Sabzi - سبزی - Herbs

Sabzi refers especially to herbaceous herbs that can we readily eaten without preparation. More of a food than a medicinal plant. Examples include basil, cress, cilantro, etc.

Mabzi - مبزی

In Persian slang, repeating a word but changing the first letter (often to an “m” sounds, or to a “p” sound when the original word begins with an “m” sound) indicates that you’re referring to not only the item you mentioned, but also to other similar things like that item. So Sabzi Mabzi means “Sabzi and the like.” Another example: “Boshghab moshghab” means plates and the like. “Balesh malesh” means pillows and the like. “Malafeh palafeh” means bedding and the like.

Hamegi - همگی - Everyone

Be omide didar - به امید دیدار - In hoping to see you

Bezanam be takhteh - بزنم به تخته - I knock on wood

Loghmeh - لقمه

A small bite of food, assembled from different pieces of a dish to maximize deliciousness. Often wrapped in a bit of flatbread.
